Sephora VIB Holiday 2013 Mini Haul

preencess_VIBhaul02

I had already gone to Sephora before IMATS Toronto took place this past weekend, but had to hold off on buying a few things [mostly MUFE products] just in case they were cheaper at the show… which indeed they were! So I went back to Sephora the day after to grab some last-minute things before the VIB sale ended.

Sephora VIB Mini Haul

1. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette 2. OCC Lip Tar All Star Mini x4 Set 3. Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum

I decided to get the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette to complement my UD Naked 2 Palette. The larger palette has more shimmery or frosted colours, so I wanted to get a palette that had mostly matte shades [only Venus is demi-matte, but looks great as a highlight]. I wasn’t too sure if I should purchase this or not, but I decided to go ahead with it while the VIB discount was still valid. That was mostly because there were two shades in the palette that don’t show up too well on my skintone. Foxy – which is also in the Naked 2 Palette – pretty much disappears on my skin. WOS [Walk of Shame] isn’t as bad, but is still a bit on the faint side. I guess they will make good all over washes although I wish it was a bit more visible. I’m also not the biggest fan of suede-finish product packaging [like NARS] only because they get dirty much easier and are prone to fingerprint marks… but that’s just me being picky.

After going to IMATS and getting my first ever OCC Lip Tar [in Marion], I definitely wanted to get the OCC Lip Tar All Star Mini Set exclusive to Sephora. I was looking at other shades at the show, but knowing that the regular sized tubes can last for a very long time I didn’t want to purchase too many and have them sit around in my dresser and not get used up. It would be a shame! So these mini tubes were perfect. Also, the set came with such an amazing range of shades. You get a pink plum neutral, a primary red, a vibrant neon pink and a blackened red. That’s a pretty good range of colours if you ask me! I think OCC did a really good job selecting the shades in this set… and these are some of their bestsellers, so what’s not to love? If you’re just starting out with OCC Lip Tars, this is a set you wouldn’t want to miss.

Last but not least, I already mentioned this in my earlier post about the VIB event so I’ll just briefly mention it here. Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb is a sweet floral scent that lasts all day for me and has an excellent dry-down. It has top notes of Bergamot, Tea and Osmanthus; lots of floral notes at the heart of the fragrance such as Jasmine, African Orange Flower, Freesia, Rose and Orchid; and dries down to a nice mix of Musk and Patchouli. My other favourite at the moment is the original Lolita Lempicka, but that has a bit of a soft-spicy kick to it. Some may find Flowerbomb a bit on the sweet side, but I don’t think it is as sweet as something like Aquolina Pink Sugar… which to me smells insanely sweet. For me, Flowerbomb and Lolita Lempicka work very well as fall/winter fragrances.

I completely forgot that Sephora sells the Clarisonic Mia brush heads and didn’t get to pick up a new sensitive brush head for my Mia. Oops, maybe next time…

Did you end up getting anything during the VIB event? Have you tried any of these products too? I’d love to hear what you think about them!
